General info
- From Irvine, CA.
- Was a standout on the Monarchs (RSL's MLS Next team) last year.
- Has been consistently getting minutes with RSL this season. Comes off the bench when the main attackers are healthy and rested (Luna, Gozo, Guilavogui). Starts when one of those is injured or rotated.
- Primarily plays as a RW but floats across AM and LW per the system Mastroeni currently runs with RSL.
Strengths
- Elite technical ability.
- Exceptionally fast feet and really quick in tight/short spaces.
- Good vision/playmaking.
- Excellent dead-ball taker. Takes free kicks and corners for RSL when he's on the field ahead of their other 'A' guys.
- Has free-flowing creativity and a bag-of-tricks to his game that we typically don't see out of US prospects.
Areas that need improvement
- Very slight. Gets pushed off the ball easily ”” not atypical of an 18-year-old playing in a physical league like MLS, to be fair.
- Wears down quickly. In games he starts, he's wearing down by the end of the first half and is completely out of gas by the 50th”“55th minute.
- Top-end speed might be lacking for a winger. He'll either need to become elite in his playmaking or get a step faster on the sprint.
The bottom line
Another very exciting prospect out of the RSL academy. Expect to see him become a regular starter ”” assuming his body holds up ”” when Gozo leaves for Europe this summer. Could easily see him, like Gozo, becoming a $10”“20M acquisition target for a European club in a year or two if he stays on this trajectory, gets a step faster, and a bit stronger.
